My friend has a really rad stone that they wanna identify but I don’t know the first thing about stones or crystals so I’m just gonna post it here and see if anyone can help out?
they said they think it might be a moonstone but we honestly have no idea so any help…
No offense Lizzy but if it doesn’t scratch all that tells you is that it’s a 7 or higher on the Moh’s scale. There’s a massive range of stones in the 1-6 range. And it even goes higher than 7. If it doesn’t scratch it could still be many different stones. Quartz itself is a stone with a lot of variety.
this is true
but hey~ it helps narrow it down
Since the hardness is higher it rules out Halite, Gypsum, Amber & Calcite. Because of the milky sheerness in color i would say its an “ite” of some sort or possibly a form of quartz. Could be Yellow Adventurine or possibly Banded Agate but its hard to say with a small specimen and the color just seems off. Hopefully this will help.
